The ministries of this church will be like a healing stream that flows from the altar, touches those in our sanctuary, but moves beyond the doors of this church into the community and world where we live.

Active Projects

1. Food Pantry-neighbor helping neighbor in times of need.
2. Vacation Bible School-working together to promote the spiritual growth of the children of our community.
3. Virden Ministerial Association-uniting pastors to serve the community.
4. Angel Tree-sharing our abundance with families less fortunate.
5. Midwest Mission Distribution Center-volunteering to help others meet crisis in thier lives by preparing needed kits, etc. to be sent in times of disaster.
6. Liberian support-pastoral and educational scholarships to Liberia ministries.
7. Habitat for Humanity-helping to build homes for those in need.
8. Adopt a classroom-supplies for teachers and students in the months of July and August for the upcoming school year in the Virden School District.
9. Shut-in-ministry-monthly visits to those who can no longer make it to the church for worship or school.
10. Prison ministry-minister to a child whose parent is in prison, giving hope and encouragement, gift baskets and cards.

Worship

There is a need in every person for worship. Opportunities for this experience and participation in it provided by the Virden United Methodist Church include:
1. Saturday evening worship at 5:00pm.
2. Sunday morning fellowship in the narthex at 8:45am.
3. Sunday morning worship at 9:00am.
4. Communion on the first Sunday of every month.
5. Sacrament of Baptism for any age. Arrange with the pastor.
6. Weddings. To be arranged with the church office and pastor.
7. Providing comfort and guidance through times of grieving or loss.

One may also find a special way to be an active participant through:
1. Choir, Bell and Vocal
2. Providing flowers for the altar.
3. Serving as an acolyte, usher, greeter, liturgist, or nursery attendant.
4. Giving the children's sermon during Sunday worship services.
